A piece born from the encounter between two artisanal crafts deeply rooted in Asturias: the traditional cutlery of Taramundi and the artisanal weaving of Xalda sheep’s wool.
This knife is the result of a collaboration with the artisan cutler Juan Carlos Quintana, from Taramundi, and stems from the search for new ways to incorporate Xalda wool into contemporary objects without losing its connection to the land and to traditional craftsmanship.
The blade is made of stainless steel, and the handle incorporates a textile micarta made from the wool of the Xalda sheep, an endangered native Asturian breed.
Xalda wool can be presented in its natural tones or dyed with natural dyes. Each piece thus has its own unique color combination, so the tone and grain of the handle may vary slightly from the images.
The result is a practical knife that brings together two artisanal crafts and two seemingly very different materials: steel and wool. A contemporary piece that brings into dialogue the knife-making tradition of Taramundi with loom weaving and the recovery of a sheep breed linked to the territory and Asturian culture.
